Love is Freedom, Relationship is Not

When a boy and a girl are actively spending time together, going on dates, and getting to know each other romantically, they often describe their bond as: “we are in love” or “we are in a relationship”. But does it mean the same thing?

For most of the people, its the same. But in reality, its not.

What is a Relationship?

All relationships are nothing but a trade. There are emotions involved but deep within, it’s all about what you are getting in return for the efforts, care, money, support, etcetera you are providing to the other person.

The irony is that every person in a relationship thinks that he/she is bringing more to the table than the other person. Or they think that its responsibility of the other person to take care of them. As long as they don’t argue about it, the things continue normally. But if this discussion happens, then there will be problems.

And if they are not thinking this way, then chances are that it’s more than a relationship that exists between them. In some cases, only one person doesn’t think this way. This person would be in one-sided love; giving away all he has to the unthankful partner.

What is Love ?

Love is a connection, an attachment with another thing or person. It is a selfless and moment to moment process. Which means it can change over time. There is no necessity or expectation of getting love in return. Further, there is no compulsion or sense of responsibility involved either. It’s pure freedom.

Finding a love that is not one-sided is rare. So, what does a person, who is in love or one-sided love gets in return?

He will get love and respect. Not necessarily from the same person but it will return for sure. And if it does not return, then there is only one possibility; which is that the person may not have given pure love. He may have just pretended to give love.

Therefore spread love as that’s the only way you can bring positivity in your life and to the world. Give love to every one around you including animals, plants, and cruelest of the people.

Attachment

Attachment can happen in love and relationships. But, it must be avoided as the fruit of attachment is always tears.

Remember, most people are selfish and that could include your family including yourself.

Learn to live alone because most relations break during tough times. Once you have learned to live alone, you will start enjoying your company more than you had ever enjoyed.

When you leave all relations behind, your desires decrease. Corruption decreases, greed decreases, and you become a better person. And this will have a huge impact over the kind of karmas you do in your life.

A person in relationships tries to meet desires of himself, parents, and family. The resulting actions that arise from desires of family members often result in too much stress, hard work, burnout, and sometimes even corruption or criminal activities.
